A mouse set to 1,000 Hz may report a lower rate in the page. The test shows the spacing of pointer events it receives, which is the rate your browser will use.

Higher is not always smoother

1,000 Hz is enough for almost every display. If the cursor stutters, look at the pointer trail for jumps before you raise the rate in the mouse software.
